Google Page Rank News Items

Internet marketing service providers have long considered Google Page Rank a valuable part of a website's credentials. So, you spent the past few years of your life trying to boost your Google PageRank. Why? Google Page Rank has very little weight on how well a website ranks in search engines. However, if you are running an Adwords campaign, it does matter. Why? Because Google Page Rank is an algorithm created by Google, designed to inform Google of your website's link popularity - the number of inbound links to your website. What does this mean? It means, that in addition to dozens of other variables taken into account by Google Adwords, when determining your placement, and minimum bid for a particular keyword in an Adwords campaign, the number of links directed to your home page, will have a direct impact of your Adwords buy rate. However, there is a common misconception that having and high PR on an Adwords landing page, will boost a campaign's quality score.

A few other variables that Adwords takes into account when determining a campaign's quality score, include CTR (Click-Through-Rate or Click-Through-Ratio) - the percentage of Google searchers who actually click on your ad, keyword relevancy, and the quality of your Adwords landing page on your website. However, in addition to the global, overall quality score that Google attributes to each campaign, a "sub" quality score is given to each element that is weighted in its algorithms, to determine the overall quality score.

Perhaps you just registered a new domain, and are psyched to implement your grandest Adwords campaign. A word of advice; wait. That's right, hold your horses! Why you ask? ... Because in the same manner that Google gives weight to well aged domains versus new domains, a phenomenon occasionally referred to as the Google sandbox, which does not allow new websites to rank immediately on the first page, and in the same manner that older domain extensions such as .COM and .NET are more valuable than .ME, .CC, etc., Google respects its elders when it comes to Adwords campaigns indirectly, as websites that are fully optimized, and have been around for a long time, and have accumulated more inbound links, will rank higher than newbies, who will generally pay a premium per click using Adwords.

In addition to the added value, and leverage getting links from higher PR sites, it is generally not a bad thing to have a high PR, so lower it on your priorities list, unless of course, you are running an Adwords campaign. Google PR only represents a small role in the factors that influence a website's ranking on search engines, however, getting links from pages with a high PR is important. Also, try to get as many links from sites that have a higher PageRank than your own website. Learn about more internet marketing myths.
